Escape From Fairyland 2022

The Escape from Fairyland series — with oil paintings of Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs and characters of fairytales with repeatedly burnt faces — turns the classic fairy tale into a haunting existential allegory of illusion, awakening, and self-deception.
At its heart lies the Portrait of Hypocrisy. Drawing on Sartre’s mauvaise foi (bad faith), the hollow illusion are created by the audience. The series desacralizes the tale entirely: yet we still continue to enjoy them.
