Gazing at Charred Joy

Gazing at Charred Joy, one is confronted with the deliberate collapse of binary oppositions—specifically, the friction between commercialized escapism and harsh geopolitical reality.

This piece applies Jacques Derrida's Deconstructionism to collapse the binary oppositions of commercialized escapism and geopolitical reality. By dissolving the pristine, animated euphoria of Disney's Snow White into the chaotic physical violence of brawls within the Ukrainian Parliament, the work exposes "Disneylisation" as a fragile, highly institutionalized social construct. Through controlled fire, the surface control is ruptured, forcing the viewer past the manufactured facade to confront the raw existential void underneath.
